CSA GROWER WANTED    (Posted Fri, Dec 28 '12 at 05:44 UTC)

We are looking for a gardener/grower to contract to manage and run a 5 acre 110 member CSA in the Cincinnati area located at Grailville in Loveland, Ohio. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, energetic and able to take our garden to a new level of production. We are a certified organic facility. Maintaining the appropriate notes and records to keep our certification will be part of the duties of the gardener. The gardener must also be able to adjust, operate, maintain and repair equipment including tractor, plows, electric fences, water pumps, etc. The gardener should be familiar with the unique problems encountered in a hoop house and propagation house, including insect and disease ID and response. The gardener would need to be able to effectively schedule and work with workshare members and volunteer effort groups. Gardener must be familiar with correct harvest and preparation techniques for distribution. There is a lot of room to grow the CSA and the gardener's role in it. There is a 10 member volunteer support staff/board of directors to assist in some of these roles. In addition to compensation from the CSA dues, we will work with the gardener to facilitate other avenues of income from the available resources at the garden. We want a happy, productive, well paid gardener to be the hub of our CSA. If interested please email your letter of interest and resume to: Greg Potter at or USPS Greg Potter, 6903 Oakland Road, Loveland, Ohio, 45140

I see a lot of responsibilities, but I don't see a salary listed. I suggest you provide a number.

Catering to the unique Ferndale perspective.

Thank you for your input. Our grower's salary depends on the number of CSA members for the year the candidate feels he or she can work with and grow produce for, and how much he or she wants to take advantage of other opportunities available to supplement income. We are willing to work with the right person on all of these counts, so it is very difficult to designate a salary at this time.
