My 22yr old Daughter - New to Farming    (Posted Wed, Jul 25 '12 at 01:37 UTC)

Hello All,
My 22 year old daughter is still looking for her passion in life. We recently moved to a home that provided some land and she started a garden and has taken to it like a fish to water.

She's be in college for several years and recently decided on auto mechanics; she'll graduate with a AA in December.

Well, lo and behold, she's got a bug in her britches about farming and absolutely loves it.

She is amazing with her hands and smart as a whip.

QUESTION: How can she go about learning more about farming without going back to school??

We live in Charlotte, NC and I think we're close to lots of farms. Should she volunteer some place ??

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You!!

Visit 10 farms, pick 3, volunteer to work at these 3 farms one day a week. Do things exactly like the farmer wants, don't talk much, bring water, a hat and gloves. Show some respect.

Catering to the unique Ferndale perspective.
