Breaking the Barriers will address the largest barriers to starting your own farm, access to land, equipment and capital. This forum will plow through these obstacles by looking at creative and practical approaches to all three.
The keynote speaker Kathy Ruhf, coordinator of Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Working Group has helped numerous small and beginning farmers establish food production and marketing systems. Benjamin Shute, a farmer from Trivoli, N.Y., will share his experience growing Hearty Roots Community Farm from 3/4 acre to 25 acre without debt.
