Breaking the Barriers to Farm Entry    (Posted Sat, Mar 6 '10 at 05:47 UTC)

Do you want to farm, but don?t have the land, capital or resources to get started?  This full-day forum on Saturday March 20th, 2010 in Center Valley, PA will bring in experts, new and experienced farmers to help you break the barriers of farm entry.

Breaking the Barriers will address the largest barriers to starting your own farm, access to land, equipment and capital.   This forum will plow through these obstacles by looking at creative and practical approaches to all three.

The keynote speaker Kathy Ruhf, coordinator of Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Working Group has helped numerous small and beginning farmers establish food production and marketing systems. Benjamin Shute, a farmer from Trivoli, N.Y., will share his experience growing Hearty Roots Community Farm from 3/4 acre to 25 acre without debt.

This program has a lot packed in it!  You will come away with a wealth of knowledge that will be beneficial as you continue toward your goal of starting your own farm.
