Where to find small-farm insurance?    (Posted Thu, Jan 10 '13 at 11:03 UTC)

Hello. On behalf of the McQueen Station Farm, a co-op of which I am a member, I am writing to ask what insurance coverage you use, and your source. We are looking for liability coverage that would protect McQueen Station Farm and its members, officers & directors from claims made or lawsuits brought against them because of Bodily Injury or Property Damage alleged to be caused by the negligence of the farm, members, officers and/or directors and arising out of farm operations. Thanks for whatever you can tell me.

Talk to your insurance provider about liability insurance. I get mine via my farm owners policy through state farm. You might have to get coverage via the Farm Bureau or Farmers union (you have to join to get access to their insurance) as both entities do sell farm liability. You will need at least $2,000,000 on coverage, though $5,000,000 is what more and more places require

Try the USDA or local Farm Bureau they usually have the cheapest.
