pasture for beef cattle - nonGMO    (Posted Tue, Apr 19 '11 at 11:17 UTC)

New cow/calf production farm in Central Texas on old family land, sandy soils now mostly in wildflowers and some native grass. Plan to improve pasture with non-GMO seeds for new forage and maybe even hay production. In the middle of a drought here and need hardy grasses that will root in the mostly sandy ground and need no irrigation. Hope to eventually market grass-fed and certified organic meat to niche markets.

Starting small cow/calf operation to produce grass-fed beef. Need info on pasture improvement and management of small herd

Wondering how the pasture revitalizing came out after the droughts of the past couple years...hope all went well and you were able to irrigate.
