From the Garden

We are a market garden, growing cut flowers, fruit, herbs, and vegetables. We offer a delivery service of specialty crops in season. To give you an idea of what grow, we offer fruits such as peaches, apples, figs, and jujubes; vegetables onion, parsnips, arugula, sorrel, baby salad greens, chard, patty pan squash, okra, pepper, epplant, black eye peas; herbs that include stevia, rosemary, and mint and others. On our website we post an ornamental or edible of the month. There are recipe of the month for the edibles. Visit our website at fromthegarden.us for the featured edible of the month.We will assemble and deliver gift baskets on request. Member of Texas Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association and GoTexan Program. There is a waiting list for 2013 subscriptions. Available are salad greens and soon the vegetables that will be available are Raider onions, organic tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, and cucumbers.

Every other week I am the envy of the office when I receive my beautiful and delicious veggie basket from Ellen.

Overflowing and freshly plucked from her garden, the contents of the basket are at once scrumptious and nutritious! This week, my basket included Swiss chard (which I use as hot weather spinach), sorrel, carrots, jalapenos, a hearty assortment of zucchini and summer squash, the most delightful little Raider onions, mint, dill and more! It is plenty of food to get my husband and I through 2 weeks, in addition to supporting my "dinner party" habit!

While some of the items in the basket may not have been on a typical grocery store shopping list, I have found ways to incorporate them into my standard recipes.... [more]
