Full Moon Farm is a small homestead farm outside of Estacada Oregon (40 minutes SE of Portland). We lovingly raise animals for our family table and to share with others. Our registered American Guinea Hogs are a rare, slow-growing heritage breed noted for their outstanding meat qualities. Our pigs free-range through our pasture and orchard and are supplemented with custom-milled, high-quality, mostly organic (non-GMO) grains and no-spray alfalfa. We also raise Icelandic Sheep, heritage-breed laying hens and pastured red broiler meat chickens. Occasionally we also have organic veggies, veggie starts and fruits for sale from our farm.
We are deeply committed to sustainable agriculture and organic practices. We are happy to schedule farm tours and occasionally host farm dinners and other events featuring live music and locally grown food. We can also deliver our meats and products to Portland. Information regarding our meat sales: We prefer that all our animals 'go to heaven' on our farm, rather than being transported to the slaughter house. Lamb and larger pigs can be slaughtered on our farm by a wonderful, very humane local mobile slaughter company, who can also cut and wrap the meat if desired. However, if you want to keep the skin on your pig (e.g., for roasting, charcuterie etc), the pig will need to go through a de-hairing process, so you will either need to come to our farm & process your own pig (with our help) or we will take your pig to a Buxtons Meats in Sandy Oregon for slaughter. Unfortunately, there is no mobile slaughter company that we know of that provides a de-hairing service and for legal reasons, we can not provide this service for you.
If you would like to order lamb or pork, please consider how you will be using the meat (e.g., roasting a whole or half animal vs individual cuts). Please also consider whether you would like to participate in the slaughtering or butchering process. We understand that not everyone is ready to participate in these processes, but are happy to discuss what happens during each step and how we ensure that our animals are treated with respect and love.
The prices for our meat are based on the hanging weight of the animal. All slaughter and butchering fees are extra, and generally paid directly to the butcher. In most cases, we can provide delivery to the Portland area. We can meet you near PSU or in the Sellwood/Westmoreland area on Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
