I have been a NOFA (Northeast Organic Farming Association) member for many years, and grow everything following organic standards. For the 2012 growing season, garlic is the main crop. I grow Music, German Red and Artichoke Red, a soft-necked garlic for braiding.
The garlic is harvested mid-July, and dries for at least 6 weeks. Garlic will be available in September until the end of October 2011, (or when supplies run out) for seed and culinary use. Shipping will begin once the garlic has dried sufficiently. This year, I will be a vendor at the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival in Saugerties, NY. Our favorite garlic variety is MUSIC. I call it the "lazy cook's garlic" because the cloves are so large that most recipes will only need one clove! It is easy to peel, and has a mild flavor that sweetens once cooked.
