Gibson Canyon Farm is located a 1.5 miles from the downtown of historic Vacaville, California. The farm has historically been used only for cattle, but this year we developed the water system, ripped the ground and planted our first crops on soil that has not seen pesticides or chemicals for over 70 years!. The rich soil and abundance of water and sun combined with our "beyond organic" farming methods gave us a prolific bounty of heirloom tomatoes, fresh herbs, fresh cut flowers, squashes and pumpkins. For 2011 our farm plan includes doubling our growing and expansion of crops. and will include peppers, onions, root vegetables, okra, summer squash, eggplant, cucumbers, melons, etc. , etc. In our quest to stay local, we support other Solano County farmers who grow without pesticides by offering to our customers, stone fruit, figs, persimmons, citrus, pomegranates, kiwi, apples and other products we don't produce. We also raise heritage breed pigs which are sold "on the hoof". Our American Guinea hogs are never given antibiotics and have a happy life grazing in the lush walnut orchard, feasting on the nuts and grass as well as our farm grown vegetables. American Guinea hogs produce one of the most flavorful tasting meat and their small size lends them to be perfect for the family freezer. Our farm stand is open June through October. Hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 9 AM to 6 PM. Farm tours available by appointment.
