(Lycopersicum esculentum)
56 days. Open polinated Heirloom from Sweden. Determinate.
This tomato should be grown in every northern and cold climate garden. It won't quite grow on a glacier, but it will grow near one! Always the first tomato to ripen in our North Idaho garden, it also has very good flavor. We tried them all: Stupice, Siberia, and the sub-arctics. Glacier beat them all for flavor. And the productivity is amazing. The 3' by 3' plants get loaded with saladette sized, 2 to 3 oz. red fruits. If you want larger fruits, pinch some of the abundant blossoms. A potato leaved variety. Also does well for us here in Southern Missouri, although it does not produce until frost in our long, long season.
No crop this year. We'll try again for 2012.

Cultural Requirements:

| Soil: | | Adaptable. Tomatoes need phosphorous, potasium, and calcium more than nitrogen. Bone meal is perfect. Excess nitrogen causes larger plants with fewer, later frutis. |
 |
| Propagation / Germination: | | Start seeds indoors 5 to 6 weeks before last frost. Keep soil lightly moist. 77 degrees is ideal, but anywhere from 60 to 85 degrees will work okay. |

| Water: | | Water weekly if necessary. |
