Goji Berry Seeds (Lycium Barbarum)
Delicious berry with legendary health benefits! Used in traditional Tibetan, Chinese, and Mongolian medicine. Originally from the countries that contain the Himalayan Mountains.
These perennial berry bushes have a tendency to vine out and benefit from trellising. Bushes will produce berries their second year. Peak berry production occurs in the 4th or 5th year.
Flowers - White, pink and purple (male and female flowers) on the same plant.
Foliage - Green elongated "tear drop" shaped leaves.
Fruit - Mildly sweet red grape sized berries. They are outrageously healthy for you containing more antioxidants than blueberries and blackberries.
Germination - 70-80 degrees F, 14-21 days
Pests and diseases - White tail deer, goats, cows, rabbits, and birds eat various parts of the plants and berries. Flea beetles, aphids and tomato hornworms devour the foliage. Tobacco and Tomato Mosaic Virus.
Sun - Full sun but will tolerate some shade.
Water - Drought tolerant after their first year. Otherwise water 1-2 inches weekly.
Soils - Very tolerant of poor soils but not of poorly drained or constantly wet soil types. Goji Berries prefer a neutral to slightly alkaline soil PH (7.0-8.0)
