Grace Note Farm is a small sustainable farm in Southeastern Wisconsin. We have a small herd of Oberhasli dairy goats, a flock of about 100 laying hens, a large garden, honey bees and pastured poultry.
Although much of what we grow is for our family, we sell eggs, Roseberry Soap, chickens, holiday turkeys, flowers and herbs from our farm. We also offer our products at Madison's East Side Market, small local farms, shops and festivals in Wisconsin and Illinois.
It is our goal to be good stewards of our land, animals, and community. We use sustainable farming practices, and care for our animals with kindness and respect. Our farm products are sold to people in our local and regional community.
We choose to sell our products at local venues where our customers have an opportunity to meet us, visit our farm, and ask us questions about how we farm. We feed our animals pesticide free, herbicide free grains and hay. We do not use any herbicides or pesticides in our gardens or on our grazing pastures. We use rotational grazing practices with our goats and laying hens, we pasture our chickens and turkeys and grow our flowers and herbs on raised beds that we cultivate by hand. We care deeply about the impact our farming has on our land and our planet and make choices that will regenerate the land rather than deplete it.
Here our life is filled with unexpected grace notes: sitting around the fire with little boys in our laps and dogs at our feet; running back from my evening chores, helping boys into snowsuits and walking out into the glowing snowy woods to share the otherworldly moonlight on the snowcapped branches; feeling the cool spring breeze seep in through my window and hearing the screech owl calling; riding our bikes to eat bread and butter, eggsalad and oranges by the lake; a warm egg in the palm of my hand; boys catching slow moving fireflies; the sound of Dave's axe sinking deep into the heart of a log; bread rising in a bowl by the fire; fat slices of tomato on a small blue plate, a glimpse of a sandhill crane at dawn. All of these mean home to us.

We began farming because we wanted to care for the environment and become part of our local food system. Our goal is to be good stewards of our land, animals, and community. We use sustainable farming practices, and care for our animals with kindness and respect. We love to share our farm's bounty with others.
