Grandma's Garden

JANUARY 2014 TUESDAY SHARES ARE SOLD OUT. A FEW FRIDAY SHARES REMAIN. Grandma's Garden is a small one-woman farm using old-fashioned, chemical free and sustainable techniques, with an emphasis on flavorful heirloom varieties. A good variety of tasty crops are grown so the season is well-supplied. You can expect an average of 8-12 different items in your weekly share. Over 60 different items were given in the 2013 season. E-newsletters will describe the weekly basket of produce and give tips and recipes for delicious, gourmet meals. Some of the feature crops are juicy, flavorful heirloom tomatoes in various shapes and colors, big onions, garlic, leeks, fingerling potatoes, peppers, herbs and colored carrots. Fresh flowers can also be part of your share. I always give a lot of description of what the unusual crops are and how to use them. I choose the crops by taste and try to grow things I think will be enjoyed. However, if there are a number of vegetables you don't like, a CSA may not be for you. The three share sizes assure a fit for your family. (A copy of each week's basket from previous seasons is available.) Let me know if you want to split a share by doing every other week. I will allow each customer to tell me a few vegetables they do not want. As a small operation, I can give more personal attention. I just ask each prospective shareholder to make sure a CSA is right for you and to be informed of the potential risk of a CSA if there is disastrous weather or vandalism. Please read the CSA information pages on this website. I am committed to helping improve the way Americans eat. Choose local, fresh, healthy real food! Teaching gardening classes at Becker Community Center in spring. 3rd year. I sell heirloom tomato and pepper plants each spring. Many wonderful and rare varieties. I sell fresh produce, baked, dried and canned goods at the Monticello Farmers' Market. I use only non-GMO ingredients! Contact me about ordering chemical free produce at any time. I do not compete for canning tomato prices with local large businesses. I don't grow "canning tomatoes" but wonderful heirloom tomatoes. If you are interested in spending as little as possible on good quality chemical free produce you can have it real cheap if you come pick it yourself. I will not spend two hours picking beautiful tomatoes so I can sell a bushel for you to can for $10. See what I mean?
