Grassfields Cheese LLC

The home 80 acres at Grassfields has been farmed by our family since 1882. It has been a sustainable dairy since the early 1900s. In 1992 we became intensively rotational grazers as well. The next year we began milking only seasonally to encourage birth and grass cycles to compliment each other. We added grass-fed chickens to our operation, available direct, with eggs, turkeys, and ducks soon to follow. In 2002 we began making and later selling raw milk Gouda and other types of cheese from our own cows' milk. We offer Certified Organic, hand-made cheeses which we make from our own pastured cows' raw milk; as well as naturally pastured beef, pork, CERTIFIED ORGANIC chicken and brown eggs, turkey, and lamb. Our dairy is CERTIFIED ORGANIC by GOA, our organic cheeses are available now, and the meat animals are eating Certified Organic grasses. Farm tours are available from May through October to any size group upon request.

We have been selling herd shares since 2005. Many families in West Michigan enjoy Organic, fresh milk from the cows they own on our farm. Check out for more information.

I shop at Grassfields quite frequently when I get milk from next door as part of my cow share. I have tried several different cuts of their frozen beef and enjoy all of them, as well as their whole chicken.... [more]

I have an autistic child and was led to believe that they are certified organic on everything - their sign on the road makes you believe this. I was shocked and disappointed when I inquired about buying chicken feed for my own flock and found out that they were feeding commercial feed to their birds on top of certified ground! When I questioned them I received an answer that really did not give me a good feeling.... [more]

We just did a local and sustainable dinner at the Kalamazoo House B&B in K'zoo. We served several of your cheeses including the Lamont Cheddar. We loved them and wanted to say thanks for being out there!
