Graves Farm is located in the northeast corner of Missouri. We currently raise Piedmontese-cross & other cross-bred fat calves, Berkshire-cross hogs, and Boer-cross goats. None of our animals are fed antibiotics, ionophores, steroids, or hormones. Piedmontese cattle originated in the Piemonte region of Italy. This is the only breed of cattle possessing two copies of the inactive Myostatin ,or "tenderness", gene. During studies conducted by the USDA (U.S. Department of Agriculture) Piedmontese animals continually outperformed other breeds for tenderness and leanness. Piedmontese beef is also lower in saturated fat than other breeds and lower in cholesterol than even chicken.
Berkshire hogs, a heritage breed, originated in Britain and have become very rare in the last fifty years. Berkshire pork is widely accepted as the highest quality of pork available on the market today due to its juiciness, flavor, and tenderness.
Boer goats were developed in South Africa specifically for meat production, unlike other breeds, which were generally dual-purpose. Boer goat meat is mild flavored and tender along with high levels of iron and relatively low levels of fat.
We are proud of what we produce and hope that you will call us if you are interested or have questions.
