Green Acre Organics is a aquaponics farm nestled in the beautiful hills and forest of Brooksville, Florida. We raise Tilapia which provide the fertilizer for our organically grown produce in our eco-friendly aquaponic system. Aquaponics uses less than 2% of the water used in conventional agriculture, never uses chemical pesticides or fertilizers, soil depletion is never an issue and always grows 100% natural, organic, pure food! Our harvests include leafy greens, salad mixes, tomatoes, and more!
Green Acre Organics produce will be available locally in excellent health food stores such as Brooksville Natural Foods and Spring Hill Natural Foods. Also coming in 2011 will be Green Acre Organics For You!. This produce club has a one time membership fee of $25 and members receive Harvest Bags with 10 to 12 items once a week for $24. Pick up locations are at Brooksville Natural Foods and Spring Hill Natural Foods on Thursdays from noon to 6pm. Please see http://www.greenacreorganics.biz/index.php/what-we-offer/organics-for-you/ to enroll and for more information.
We offer free farm tours on the first Saturday of the month and private tours are availabe by appointment. Monthly Micro system trainings, commercial aquaponic trainings and system sales are offered. Volunteers are welcome. Please contact Tonya Penick for information.
