Greene Family Farm belongs to Sherri and Derek Greene. They and their children work together growing greens, garlic, vegetables, and herbs. They also raise chickens, pigs, and honeybees on their small farm in Shelby. From the mobile A-frames that shelter the pastured hens, to the homemade natural fertilizer, to the preparation of the produce beds, the Greenes do the work by hand. They can taste the difference, and you will be able to, as well.
The land was once used to grow cotton, so the soil was depleted by the time the Greenes began farming it. Natural fertilization, provided by chickens, pigs, and mulch, transformed the soil. The rejuvenated soil began producing more than they could eat, and they began selling their surplus in 2010.
We don't sell anything that we don't eat ourselves. We bake with fine ingredients, we grow with hand-mixed complete organic fertilizer, and we tend our animals with loving care. There is nothing in our kitchen, woods, pasture, or gardens that we wouldn't want you to see, so we welcome visitors! Greene Family Farm serves farmers markets, chefs, friends, and neighbors, and ships to any location in the United States.
