GreenMan Farm

The verdant heart of Puget Sound, rural Vashon Island, is the home of GreenMan Farm. The site has been farmed continuously for nearly 100 years. This is our 14th year growing in this idyllic setting, where we lovingly tend our raised beds, row crops, greenhouses, orchard, flock of chickens and our sweet Jersey cow, Hazel.

Starting out as the first biodynamic subscription farm (CSA) on Vashon, GreenMan Farm has branched out to become one of the anchors of the Vashon Farmer's Market. On Saturdays during the Market season, you can find us at the Market on the Village Green offering a scrumptious selection of seasonal veggies, fruit, eggs, and farm-fresh treats. And of course, the our on-site farmstand is open 7 days a week.

Our philosophy: We are passionate about growing healthy food for you and your family. Conventional large-scale agriculture has many hidden costs, such as pesticide residues in food, poisoning of farm workers, soil erosion, nitrates and phosphates in groundwater and streams, and horri fic mistreatment of livestock. Using ecologically sustainable methods, we striv e to create a flourishing garden which mimics the diversity and resiliency of natural systems. We work with (not against) Nature to manage insect and disease problems. We rely on cover crops, compost, mulches, and friendly animal helpers to create rich, healthy soils and the best food that sunshine, soil and rain can grow!
