Broccoli is believed to be the first of the cole crops to evolve from the wild species of kale or cabbage and was cultivated by the Romans. It was introduced in England in the early 16th century known as “ Italian asparagus” or “sprout cauliflower”.

Calabrese was brought to America by Italian immigrants in the 1880s.

Plant produces a very flavorful heads of broccoli. A favorite sprouting & cutting broccoli. Once the main head is removed this variety will continuously produce many offshoots during the season.

An early maturing variety. Broccoli prefers cooler growing weather and can be direct sown into the garden in the spring as early as ground can be worked.

High in vitamins and fiber.

Tastes great fresh, steamed, pickled, stir-fried, added to your favorite salad or cassorole.
