Located in the heart of a stream valley that is home to one of the nation's longest continuous African American urban populations, the Heritage Park Farm Stand is a miracle. Started by children in the neighborhood and now run by a team called the DC Park Savers, the farm market stands on the site of a former heroin market-- a powerful symbol of this once forgotten community renewing itself. Customers can find a variety of very fresh organic food grown nearby at the Urban Oasis farm led by Community Harvest, along with local music and celebration.

Murphy Williams and son J.J. work as a team to run the market. Seeing their smile and dancing to the sound of Marvin Gaye as you shop make the wonderful fresh produce even tastier! Summer tomatoes -- green and red -- are in. Also be sure to try our kale, collards, okra, beans, strawberries, watermelon, plums, and peaches! Finally, don't miss our nutritious cooking demonstrations with free tastings and prizes!
