Heritage Ridge Farm is located in eastern Geauga county on land held by our family for five generations. Once a dairy farm, HRF's reincarnation is a small family farm specializing in Icelandic sheep and maple syrup. We grow veggies and fruits for the table and maintain a variety of berry crop, including some of the biggest blueberry bushes you might ever see, but these are small scale for now.
We work the farm in our spare time away from our professional lives and around raising our own children. We are in the process of developing a sustainable flock of Icelandic sheep for their meat and pelts. We are growing a flock of Rouen and Pekin ducks for eventual sale to nearby restaurants. In addition to our small (under ten acres) plot we also maintain two large fields for hay and corn which we lease to local farmers.
We try to do things naturally. Otherwise we'd just buy this stuff from the store and save the headaches and heartaches. But we do not bother with certifications of organic degrees or otherwise unnecessary hoops to jump through. Right now, we just don't have the time.
