In 2002 the MacCheyne began to consider the health benefits of raising their own beef. One farmer they met raised Scottish Highlands. After one look The MacCheynes had fallen in love with the heritage breed! Highlands are the main breed in their cow herd today. Making great mothers to their angus cross calves. Originating in Western Scotland and recognizable by their long, shaggy coats and majestic, sweeping horns, the Highland is a hardy breed that has remained unchanged for centuries.
