The Hill-Stead Farmers Market on the beautiful 152 acre grounds of Hill-Stead Museum in Farmington offers 18 vendors selling an array of locally grown fresh vegetables(many organic and heirloom varieties),fruits,naturally raised beef, veal, pork and lamb, eggs, roasting chickens, cow,sheep and goat milk cheeses and sauces, farm fresh ice cream, breads, muffins, pies, jams, empanadas, goat milk soaps, lotions, wool and angora goat yarns and flowers! An additional weekly changing visiting vendor augments the selection and often includes a demonstration such as wool spinning or weaving. A community table affords local clubs and non-profits an opportunity to highlight their activities. "Locally grown" musicians offer easy listening with acoustic performances. T

Market days often coincide with special museum events. First Sunday of the month gallery talks, guided estate walks and nature programs. Guides are available every Sunday in the Sunken Garden to offer the history and planting information of the historic Beatrix Ferrand designed garden. Museum tours of the 1901 Colonial Revival mansion begin every half hour. Learn about Hill-Stead's pioneering female architect and founder Theodate Pope Riddle and view her father's Impressionist art collection.
