While new to the area, HiP Haus was created to nourish the spirit and feed its guests. We live simply and daily make attempts to reduce our footprint on the land.
This seasons' 2010 garden is in and already thriving with potatoes and colder-weather crops such as onions, spinach and lettuces. We anticipate a wonderfully diverse crop of vegetables this year, with an emphasis on salsa ingredients, blue corn for flour, and flower bouquet crops. Since purchasing the property we have gardened pesticide free, amending our soil with well-composted local llama poop.
Our produce (as it becomes available) and eggs will be sold at the brand-new Mechanicsburg Farmer's Market. Opening day is Tuesday June 15; Market day will be weekly on Tuesdays from 4:30-7 PM and is to be located at the Mechanicsburg Heritage Cooperative feedstore parking lot. Interested vendors may pick up an application and market rules at Heritage Cooperative, Hemisphere Coffee, and at Dransfield Law Office (Saxbe building).
We look forward to meeting new people, selling our produce and other goodies, and sharing our rural experience~!
With peace, Steve Dransfield and Rikki Thompson
