His Harvest CSA

Established in 1999, Dr. John and LInda Wohar, the parents of 10 children, wanted the opportunity to provide their growing family with healthy and organically produced fruits and vegetables. Dr. John, a Chiropractor and Naturopathic Healer in the Mon Valley for more then 30 years, has been teaching his patients about the importance of nutrition and the quality of their food for decades. Linda, the author of "10 Steps to Better Health", also was the primary organizer of the Mon Valley Food Co-op, and later other small food cooperatives.

In 2011, Angie, the eldest daughter, and her family moved back to the family farm from Connecticut. They have now expanded the garden space for greater productivity. Angie worked with Flanders Nature Center on the education side, teaching Square Foot Gardening and Companion Planting.

In 2014 the farm expanded again bringing in an additional 40 acres and two other families joined the co-op. Regina and Tara Stottlemyer bring a lifetime of experience of farming, as well as grass fed beef, lamb, goat and more.

Currently the farm offers many fruits and vegetables, herbs and flowers, chestnuts and black walnuts, and organically raised chicken and eggs, meat ducks, turkey and geese. Linda is a renowned baker and bread maker and is adding a bread share into the CSA. For the 2014 season they will also be adding rabbits and a beehive or two. Each year the goal is to expand a little more!
