Hodgson Farms was started in 1946 by Richard Hodgson Sr. and his wife, Frances, as a chicken farm for egg production in Newburgh, NY. At its peak, Hodgson Farms housed over 50,000 chickens. Those chickens created lots of fertilizer, and beginning in the mid-70's, Hodgson's began to grow vegetables for sale at local farmers markets. In 1976 we began selling produce and eggs at New York City Greenmarkets, and continue to do so today.
The first greenhouses were built at Hodgson Farms in the late 1970's at the farm in Newburgh. We have since expanded into a 15 house growing facility and 50 acres of field production at our current Walden, NY location.
TODAY In the past ten years Hodgson's Farm has grown into a full-service Garden Center, providing everything you need to create the garden of your dreams. In addition to the top-quality annuals and perennials we grow, you'll find pottery, tools, and supplies. We also have space for a wide range of activities including birthday parties, seminars, fundraising opportunites, and a farm stand inside the farm. When the gardening season starts slowing down, Hodgson's is gearing up for our fun-filled Fall Festival & Pumpkin Pick followed by Poinsettia Season. We can't wait for your next visit!
