Honeyhill Farm is know nationally by garlic growers as a source of superior quality certified organic garlic seed, grown in the Finger Lakes of New York. Honeyhill Farm has grown organic garlic since 1992 and received organic certification in 2004.
Honeyhill Farm is know locally for our 15 varieties of heirloom tomatoes, pasture-raised chicken and grassfed beef. We additionally offer a wide range of other vegetables inc. leeks, shallots, potatoes, head lettuce, beets, etc.
Many of our varieties are grown in high tunnels for early and late season crops along with winter crops that will commence with the opening of our new winter market.
German White (Allium Sativum var. ophioscorodon) (AKA German Extra Hardy) Hardneck, Porcelain
This variety is the standard by which all are measured for winter hardiness, a vigorous grower with long roots that protect it from heaving. It typically produces 6 cloves per bulb that often weigh 4 oz. Uniform, easy-to-peel large cloves. Robust and delicious garlic flavor with just the right amount of heat, but not hot. Meaty scapes in late spring are tender and flavorful. Excellent long keeper.
