Hope Outreach Faith Farm works with those in life crisis situations to help grow hope. The garden incorporates 14 raised production beds, an asparagus patch and an attractive ornamental area across the front. Our beds are filled with vegetables, herbs, small fruits and cut flowers grown using earth friendly methods that encourage butterflies and honey bees.
The primary purpose of Faith Farm is to provide Garden Therapy; using plants and horticulture activities to improve the social, educational, psychological and physical well-being of individuals in a variety of situations. Working in a garden setting has been proven to help people relax, reduce stress and provide exercise. In addition it can imporve self-esteem, encourage creativity and teaches cooperation and problem solving.
We help support our program by selling fresh vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers at our Harvest Market held on Tuesdays from 4:00-6:00 p.m. during the growing season. This is held in the garden enabling people to see how everything is grown. We also are happy to arrange private tours or provide programs for small groups.
The site also includes an Enabling Garden for those with mobility impairments. Special raised beds allow people who haven't been able to enjoy gardening activities to once again get their hands in the dirt! Paths have been redone for wheelchair access and programs designed. We are excited to be able to grow hope for those who thought their gardening days were over! We would also encourage caregivers to make use of the garden setting for pleasant outings.
