In The Kitchen is a local monthly magazine with editions in Lynchburg, Charlottesville and Staunton Virginia. It is a local forum all about foods and dedicated to the principals of SLOW FOODs and Community Sustainable Agriculture. In The Kitchen includes columnist local to each edition who write about wines, nutrition, and gourmet food preparation. The tap root of the publication is the Monthly Meal Planner containing a menu and one recipe for each day of the month. Additionally there are standard columns entitled What's Cooking, With The Family, Cook of the Month, Culinary Adventure, The Basics, Garden Spot, Kitchen Calendar and Kids Corner. The 16 page magazine is supported by the sale of advertising and is distributed free of charge from racks located the market areas, primairly in grocery stores,to over 12,000 readers in each market. Annual subscriptions are available for $20. In The Kitchen welcomes food news from these three cities and their surrounding areas. Food happenings are listed free of charge in the Kitchen Calendar.
