Indian corn can be used for many decorative uses. It has a wide variety of colors ranging from reds, purples, silver. rust, and evrything in between! We grow our corn organically without the use of synthetic pesticides, or fertilizers. We hull the corn in the fall, and dry the seeds to replant the following year. This year we had an abundance of colorful corn, and would like to offer the seeds for sale via mail order.
The seeds can be stored in a cool, dry area through the winter, and then planted in the spring. To sow the corn place 2-3 at a time in a shallow hole approximately 1/4-1/2 inch deep. Cover the seeds, and tamp the soil. When the corn begins to grow it needs plenty of water. Although, here in the midwest the larger farms never water unless it is severly dry! The corn will take about 90 days to ripen. When the silk turns brown the corn is ready to be harvested. We harvest some, and leave some to dry on the stalks for fall decorations. Many of the stalks are colored red, and rust, and are beautiful!
Each packet will contain 25 organically grown seeds with planting instructions.
All orders are made here on the farm and are usually shipped within 5-7 business days.
