In 2004, my wife and I bought a 20-acre ranch in the Parowan Valley. The land grows sagebrush and greasewood. It's not much good for farming, but goats love it-- and we love goats.
There are three things you can do with goats: meat, milk, and fiber (wool). We love our goats and don't want to eat them, and the heavy clay mud would make fiber goats very difficult to keep clean.
We opted for dairy goats, mostly Alpines, and began to make cheese. In 2009, after two years of learning and experimenting, we got our cheesemaking license. Now we sell cheese at farmers markets, and make home deliveries in the Cedar City/Parowan area. Our cheese has been so successful that we're expanding our facility. Soon we'll be adding cheeses made from cows' milk that we purchase from a nearby small dairy.
On our wesite you'll find ideas & resources for buying local. You'll also find recipes, resources, and information for making your own cheese. We love cheese, and hope you do, too!
"Yes, we deliver!" We make home deliveries in the Cedar City/Parowan area-- or will make arrangements to meet you.
