80 - 85 days. Indeterminate. Heirloom from Russia. A fantastic "black" tomato that we prefer over Cherokee Purple or Black Krim. It has none of their cosmetic issues, staying perfect and crack free in all weather. It out produces them by a wide margin. And the flavor? Well, we think it is one of the tastiest tomatoes we have ever grown. It has that rich, sweet, deep flavor that black tomatoes are known for. Shaped like a bartlett pear, it was the star of our late summer and fall garden, producing loads of fruits when our other tomatoes had given up. And every one was perfect. The color is deep, rich, chocolate red with green shoulders. The shoulders stay firm, discouraging the fruitworm.
Our plants are sustainably raised in our own potting mix. We use only organic fertilizers and sprays if needed. We have been growing and selling plants since 1997.
Our tomato plants are shipped in individual 3" deep pots. They are usually 6 to 10 inches tall and are ready to be planted out in your garden.
We package our plants with extreme care so they arrive undamaged at your doorstep. Each plant is tucked into its own padded sleeve. The soil in each pot is covered so it will not spill out. A plant tag identifying the variety is included with each plant.
We ship every Monday and Tuesday, from late March into June, according to your location or your request.
We are now closed for the 2014 season. Thank you to all of our wonderful customers! We will be back in January, 2015.
We produce all of our own seed, unlike most seed sellers. We never purchase bulk seeds and repackage them. You can be sure that you are getting top quality, healthy, and vigorous seeds from us, and that they were produced by us on our small farm in healthy soil.
We are licensed by the State of Missouri Department of Agriculture to sell plants (license #1931) and seed (license #149045) produced by us. We exceed the Federal minimum germination standards and post our germination test results with each variety
