This variety is an old American heirloom that has been very popular with gardeners since it was first introduced years ago! Despite its popularity, seeds for this variety are now very hard to come by.
Plants are extremely prolific producing a heavy crop over a long season. Plants show some resistance to disease and did well despite the drought that came on in late summer. Brilliant red fruits are large, average 4-6oz.each and are shaped like a fat banana pepper. Fruits are about 6 inches long and taper to a pointed end. Some curve around like a banana pepper and some hang straight down. Fruits are very meaty with very few seeds and have a wonderful flavor. They are perfect for making salsa, sauce, or for canning. They also taste good enough to eat fresh.
