Jessamine Plantation Shiitake

Jessamine Plantation Shiitake is a charter member of the North Carolina Mushroom Growers Association and is affiliated with the Mushroom Program at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro. Jessamine Plantation is in its first year of shiitake production, growing the delicious mushrooms on hardwood logs under a canopy of pine trees.

Shiitake has a classic mushroom shape with open white gills. Its texture is firm and slightly chewy with a delicious meaty and earthy taste. Shiitake can be eaten raw, added to your favorite recipe, or sautéed in olive oil or butter.

Shiitake is the ultimate health food. It shows powerful immune-stimulating properties, making it a valuable ally against cancer, leukemia, lymphosarcoma, and Hodgkin’s disease.
