John's Chickens is located in the countryside between Addison, NY and Elkland, PA. John is a 10 year old 4H member who started with 30 hens and a few dozen "meat birds" (Cornish X Rocks), and word of mouth about his pastured poultry products has created an unexpected but very pleasant demand for the poultry products he raises and sells. With the help of his mom, dad, and sisters, John will raise over 800 Cornish Cross broilers / roasters, 100+ turkeys, and sell over 1,000 dozen eggs this year. John's birds are housed in hand-made "hoop houses" that we build here on the farm, which are moved to fresh pasture every couple of weeks. We practice rotational grazing. John's Chickens and Sara's Pigs is located in the countryside between Addison, NY and Elkland, PA. What started out as a 4H project for John (10) and Sara (9) about 4 years ago has blossomed into a family venture that provides good, clean, local food throughout the Twin Tiers. We offer free delivery via scheduled routes, a pork and poultry CSA, and farm tours.
In 2012, our production plan includes 1,000 meatbirds, 35+ pigs, 100+ turkeys, and will keep expanding our layer flock to 225 + layers
