Johnson Creek Ranch

Johnson Creek Ranch 100% Horse Manure Compost is a new, all natural, superior quality compost product. This pure horse manure compost is high in organic matter and has an excellent nutrient index. It is a mature, fully stabilized organic matter source, making it equivalent to humus, the natural organic portion of the soil. It smells clean and earthy.

Johnson Creek Ranch is located in beautiful western Montana. The ranch is owned and operated by a veterinarian and her husband. Their horses and mules are maintained in excellent health, and are fed high quality grass hay or home grown grass pasture. The ranch has a custom-built compost facility, and all the manure originates only from their premises.

The composting process is closely monitored. Compost pile temperatures are assessed and documented, using a designated compost thermometer with a three foot probe. Piles are regularly rotated based on temperature, which ensures complete composting and a mature final product.

Each season, a pooled, finished compost sample is submitted for analysis by an independent laboratory, verifying maturity and nutrient quality. Compost is also tested internally by seed germination and seedling vigor assessments.

All compost is screened (1/2 inch) to assure a uniform product. It is offered locally in 0.5 or 1.0 cubic feet heat sealed, heavy duty poly bags, or delivered by priority mail in 12.5 lb quantities.

As a soil amendment, Johnson Creek Ranch compost improves the chemical, physical, and biological characteristics of soil. It enhances aeration and water retention, provides a slow release of organic nutrients, adds biodiversity, and improves the soil?¢ï¿½??s long-term productivity.
