Kelvin Grove is a small farm that we started with the intent of raising as much of our own food as we can. Whew! What a tall order that was. We have been very successful and do raise much of our own food. Currently we have a pig and 30 odd chickens, plus a large garden. We're working on fruit trees, grapes, and blueberries. It's very satisfying to sit down to a meal and know exactly where it came from and what went into it. The dilemma of what to plant and how much.... I still have tons of green beans and tomatoes canned over the years. Do I keep going full force?? The compromise is that I will plant as much as before and any that I can't get to I will sell. So keep watching and as the beans, tomatoes, and other veggies come in, I will post what extra we have here. Cross your fingers that we find the time between farming and working to put in turkeys and ducks. I really want to have our own turkey for Thanksgiving this year. Plus, once we slaughter the last pig, new piggies will be coming and ready in the fall. I'll post that here too.
I can all summer. If you've ever wanted to make your own jams and jellies, i can show you how. I can lots of pickles and veggies if you're interested in those.
