The Lake-To-River Food Cooperative is a member-owned cooperative of food producers and processors who grow, prepare, add value to and market agricultural products to institutional and commercial buyers in the Mahoning Valley and throughout Northeast Ohio.
Formed in 2011, the pilot project quickly achieved sales of more than $10,000 from school food service accounts and continues to grow as it reaches out to stores and restaurants. The number of producers and products available from cooperative members is increasing as is the number of buyers who indicate interest in supporting the efforts to re-build the local food economy.
A $75,000 USDA FMPP grant helps support marketing and operations efforts as the Cooperative ramps up membership.
