The larger CSA is for individuals or families who can cook most of their meals at home. The amount of vegetables will be larger, 2 pounds for beans 8-12 ears for sweet corn). In addition several times over the season larger amounts (1/2 bushel) will be made available for canning or freezing.
All vegetables are grown from organic or untreated seeds using no pesticides or herbicides of any kind and only organic fertilizers. Our farm is located in a small valley where we have beautiful bottom land soil with a big creek and can grow great lettuce and greens most of the summer. We further minimize our ecological footprint by using wooden crates rather than boxes, few plastic bags, horses for most of the field work and compress natural gas vehicles for our transportation.
The Elizabeth Telling Farm has operated a CSA program for ten years, growing produce using sustainable practices and organic seeds and fertilizers. We are located along the pristine Captina Creek in Belmont County, Ohio. Vegetables are raised on about 12 acres of beautiful bottom land which is protected by steep hills from any neighboring conventional farms. The chickens and animals graze on the hill tops.
