Ledgeview Gardens is a small, family owned farm dedicated to growing produce naturally and pesticide free. We have never used any harmful sprays on our produce.
Our passion for sustainable growing steamed from our roots in hobby gardening. In 2000 we built a "Three Bay" gutter connect Hydroponic Greenhouse structure and began producing beefsteak tomatoes. The following year we added cucumbers to our hydroponic produce list and the year after that came lettuce. Currently we grow: tomatoes; large and small varieties, lettuce and salad greens and cucumbers hydroponically.
Along with hydroponics we farm nearly 18 acres of soil grown produce. We are not certified organic, but do not believe the certification is necessary. We strongly believe the most important aspect of growing healthy produce is NOT using pesticides, herbicides and fungicides. Becoming "certified" organic is only going to increase our overhead and in turn raise our prices to our consumers. We encourage anybody to call to find out what we have at any time of the season, including late season after the markets are over. Hydroponic growing allows us to get an early start and extend the season.
We currently, while supplies last, have: tomatoes, lettuce, salad greens, sweet potatoes, onions, garlic, free range eggs, and free range chicken.
Another season coming soon! The snow is melting and our plants are started, we can smell the soil and almost taste the fresh vegetables. The salad greens and lettuce mix are available first, but the rest of the seasonal vegetables are soon to follow. Eggs, popcorn and free range chickens are available now. Call or e-mail, we are around Monday through Friday from about 9 to 4. Come see us and get some fresh eggs for breakfast or popcorn for a healthy, pesticide free after school snack!
