We have just recently relocated to upstate NY and are learning our way through homesteading. So far, we have 9 hens that are laying, and 5 pullets working their way there. One obnoxious rooster we are not counting in the mix (unless you want him for your freezer). Our hens and roo are totally free-range during the day, and lock themselves in the coop at night. All the hens are laying beautiful large brown eggs with orangey yolks right now, and we expect that 2 of the chicks are "Easter Eggers" and might produce some different colors.
We have very humanely raised (read "spoiled") 2 pigs (Duroc/Hampshire x) and had them processed. As this is our first time doing this, they were a bit larger than we had expected, but they were processed at a USDA certified facility and are labeled as such, available in 1-2 lb. packages for the sausage and bacon, 3-4 lbs. for the roasts and hams.
Anyone looking for bacon and eggs for breakfast, please call or e-mail.
