Deutsch Country Days aka Luxenhaus Farm German Heritage Foundation

Luxenhaus farm is located three miles northeast of Marthasville MO where every third weekend in October (20 & 21, 2012) is featuring DEUTSCH COUNTRY DAYS. This early Missouri living history depicts over eighty folkways and skills of the pioneer Germans AND the Osage Tribe in Missouri. Twenty-three log and period cabins (1820-1880) dot the hillsides of this typical Germanic hill farm, all saved from demolition for modern malls! The ERIC SLOANE COVERED BRIDGE welcomes guests to "walk back into time"-- watch and participate in many of the early skills, majority using the tools brought over from Germany by their forefathers. Soap making, beeswax candle dipping, steam sawmill, sorghum pressing with MISSOURI MULES]/b] are just a few of the numerous skills demonstrated by over one hundred volunteers. Deutsch Country Days and Luxenhaus Farm are known as the "best kept secret in Missouri!"--2012 being our thirty-first year, which hardly deems us "secretive" any longer. Last year's guests were close to 12,000[//b] history-oriented guests from throughout the US and Europe, specifically GERMANY! Admission is tax deductible, 501c3 non-profic public foundation. For additional details, check our web pagefacebook/phone/emaill--we'd love to chat with you! "Kommet, Freud euch mit uns" - "Come enjoy yourselves with us!"
