(Columbiana,OH)At Lamppost Farm, we bring culture and agriculture together. We are in the business of raising pastured and grass-fed animals in order to give customers quality product and the opportunity for hands-on learning. Our Solar-Powered broiler chickens (raised in the sun and eating grasses...natures solar collectors) live most of their lives on our pastures, move daily to a new selection of bugs and grasses, then are processed on the farm in groups of people who care about the quality of food sold. Our layer hens produce fresh eggs that stand up in the pan. Our Nubian goats work on clearing brush and weeds around the farm, fertilize our fields, and produce high quality milk for soap making and our own consumption. And, we are currently building our herd of pastured pigs and grass-fed beef. Our beef and pork should be available in 2011. Steve came to Lamppost Farm from an Adventure Education program on a college campus. During that time, Steve developed skills in group/team building and leadership development. At Lamppost Farm, he combines these skills with holistic agricultural opportunities to encourage guests to learn with the head, hearts, and hands. Melanie worked for 10+ years in campus ministry settings. Her strengths include program planning, hospitality, mentoring, and relationship development. Together, these skills allow Steve and Melanie to offer more than high quality food. At Lamppost Farm, food is an experience that continues to give for months and months beyond. Buy your meats from us! But also plan to come and visit us at Lamppost Farm. Whether it be for a chicken processing day, cutting boards on the sawmill, making salsa, pressing apple cider, or spending time with your kids and our animals. Experiences are seasonally based and are scheduled on an "as available" basis. Our meats are available directly from our farm. And, we will soon be selling at a local farmer's market. Also available from the farm is custom sawmilling, kiln dried lumber, and furniture and cabinet building. If you have a tree that you want a piece of furniture out of, contact us about our Forest to Furniture program...makes great Christmas gifts that mean more than Happy Holidays.
