Union Supported Agriculture

(Brewer,ME)

Sign up for our CSA today. See our brochure at http://issuu.com/lmbinger/docs/usa10brochure_v7. How USA works: USA acts as a "community union" of people who share the belief that union values of mutual aid, support, & solidarity, together with fair & local food will make for a more vibrant & healthy community. USA has been serving Eastern Maine since 2004. Members pick up a weekly share of a farm's vegetable harvest at an Eastern Maine location. Members pay for their shares at the beginning of the season or work at the farm. We provide opportunities to purchase other local foods like eggs, canned goods, and meats. Picking up your share: You can pick up your weekly share at a designated site in Brewer, Bucksport, or Orono on Tuesdays between 5 - 7pm; at Happytown Farm in Orland anytime on Tuesdays,;or at the Ellsworth Farmers' Market on Mondays, Thursdays, or Saturdays. Consider a Work Share: We highly encourage you to consider doing a Work Share. Work at the farm and/or help transport shares for 8 hours every week in exchange for your farm share. No experience is necessary. USA's success depends on Work Share participants fulfilling their commitments to work for the entire 16 week season. Participants will be able to take up to 3 days off with notice. Donate a Solidarity Share: Whether or not you will be purchasing a share for yourself this season, we hope that you, your organization, or your union local will donate a Solidarity Share. Solidarity Shares provide fresh, healthy, organic vegetables for people in our community who cannot afford the full price of a share and are unable to participate in the Work Share program. 2009 Solidarity Shares went to child care providers who care for children from low-income families. Any size contribution helps.
