Our chickens are free ranged on spacious pasture. We chose New Hampshire Reds as our main flock concentration as they are an endangered US breed. Supplemented by Delawares, which are also Listed on the Slow Food(r) Ark of Taste and ALBC, we are developing a breeding flock to enhance this birds dual purpose qualities. We also keep Welsumer, Barnevelders and a few other ALBC listed birds for their darker brown or colorful eggs.
Your henshare also includes news, info on your chickens, as well as manure for your garden, compost pile!
Feed is cert organic, soy free and LOCAL.
A hen share will receive their share of at least 9 or 18 eggs weekly, in reusable plastic cartons. Pickup at farm, or in Martinsburg sometimes. There is a work-day available.
Our poultry is fed Certified Organic feeds, and have 24/7 access to our Certified Naturally Grown pasture. By using heritage stock, most listed by the Slow Food Ark of Taste, we are able to raise the best tasting food sustainably.
Occasionally fleece and other products are available.
