Longwoods Alpaca Farm is a small family farm located in the rolling fields of Cumberland Center, just minutes from downtown Portland. In addition to our herd of "fiber boys", we have a herd of breeding livestock. Our goal is to produce fine-fibered alpacas that also exhibit correct conformation. "Easy breeders" are a must!
Longwoods Alpacas is committed to helping to establish a commercial alpaca fiber industry, therefore we are members of the Natural Fiber Producers Cooperative. We participate in 3 farmers markets (Cumberland, Falmouth, and Freeport) through the summer, offering yarn and rovings, handwoven scarves, rugs and mats, alpaca duvets, socks, and handknit garments and accessories. Our farm store is open by appointment from May - October and on weekends and by appointment November - April.
Fiber sorting services have become an important part of our operation, as the quality of our products is directly related to the fiber being properly sorted by color length and fineness.
