We took the Stateline Farm Beginnings course through Angelic Organics Learning Center in 2009 and graduated in 2010.
Our farm started on a 200' x 80' field at a fellow CRAFT/SFB (Stateline Farm Beginnings) graduate's farm during 2010. We attended one farmers market in our first season. We have a history of volunteering at Prairie Crossing Learning Farm (2009-2011) and have worked on three other local organic farms in the Chicagoland area over the past three years, two of those farms included CSAs and two utilized farmers markets as selling venues.
During the winter of 2010-2011, we took a CSA Planning course through Michael Fields Agricultural Institute and learned many valuable things from other farmers about running a successful CSA.
Theresa has served three years as a Growers Group facilitator for a group of local organic farmers through Angelic Organics Learning Center. We have also been CRAFT members (Collaborative Regional Alliance for Farmer Training) for the past three years.
We are a family owned farm in Woodstock, IL that is currently an organically grown vegetable farm - non-GMO, non-certified, working towards organic certification. We currently have 120 laying hens which are a mix of 90 Red Sex Link hens and 30 heritage breeds. We will slowly be replacing the Red Sex Links. We have a limited number of free-range eggs (working towards organic certification) that are available on a first come first serve basis.
We will also have a limited amount of pasture raised turkeys available. We raised Midget Whites last year and plan to raise them again along with a couple other breeds.
2013 we will be raising Freedom Rangers, a slower growing broiler. Our first batch are will be processed in early June, tentatively speaking, as it may vary by a week or two.
We will be getting our first dairy goat in May of 2013. We sell homemade goat milk soap.
We sell our products on the farm, at the Wauconda Green Market and other local events in the Chicago area.
