We are Maplewood Organics, a Noel Family Farm. The four of us, Eric, Hannah, Madeleine, and Calvin Noel, live and work on Eric's family farm in Highgate. The farm was a dairy farm worked by Eric's parents for thirty years until 1999.

Eric and Hannah were married right on the front porch. Both Madeleine and Calvin were born in the home in which Eric grew up. We believe in eating fresh, wholesome, solar-based foods, so in 2003 we decided to start farming that way and offer the same food to families in our community. We grow food the way we do because we strongly believe in taking care of ourselves, our family, our customers, our land, and future generations of Vermonters.

In the near future, Eric's sister, Sarah, will be joining us on the farm to grow Christmas trees and to start other new, sustainable enterprises.

By purchasing a "share" at the beginning of the season, the shareholders provide financial support for a local farm. We then provide a share of the farm's harvest to each member of the CSA for a significant discount. The amount of food each week varies as the harvest varies.

We will include fresh produce and, most weeks, a bouquet of fresh cut flowers. We hope to have a good strawberry crop this year also. We will provide you with the best and freshest food we grow!

Our season lasts 18 weeks from the second week in June to the second week in October. New in 2008 is our winter CSA with five pick-ups from October-December. We also have other products available from our farm and other local farmers and producers including fresh eggs, chicken, beef, goat cheese, fresh bagels, pies, and home canned goods. These products are all available as shares. We offer FREE delivery to a central drop location. We also offer pack and delivery to private homes or offices for members who can't make it to the farm or the drop spot each week for a small additional fee.

NEW this summer! FARM SCHOOL! We have been offering internships since 2007. This year we're taking your learning to the next level with our new FARM SCHOOL. This is for individuals 18 and older who want to learn hands-on about farming and sustainable living.

We also custom graze replacement heifers using Holistic Management practices. We started beef cattle in 2007 as well using the same principles of management. We currently have a 55 head 100% grass-fed certified organic Galloway herd.

Our first intern is here!

We're so happy to announce that our first intern has arrived. She will be with us for a month with her 13 year-old lab. They are both very sweet! We're preparing our CSA mailing for our local customers today and plan to have it in the mail by the end of the week.... [more]
