Maries Farm is a small family farm, located in a fertile valley along the Pescadero Creek in Pescadero. The farm focuses on sustainable agriculture and sustainable living. Spring fed drinking water, solar hot water, off the grid electricity and hybrid gas/hydrogen powered tractors. Of the 120 acres of land only about 20 acres are farmed. We irrigate some fields with a gravity reservoir system. The farm is certified by CCOF. We experiment with different crops that are said to be drought tolerant or deep rooted and see how well these crops can be dry farmed. There is a half acre memorial vineyard of head trained dryfarmed tempranillo grapes dedicated to Marie Storm. There is also an orchard with many types of low chill fruit trees manacured by a group of orchard chickens, ducks and geese. (more...)
