McConnell Farms is a small family owned and operated business located in Gunter, Texas. We specialize in Ameraucanas, known as the "Easter Egg Breed", who lay multicolored eggs. They have beards, muffs and a normal tail with a tail head. They are often incorrectly called Araucanas, which have ear tuffs, are rumpless, and do not have a tail head which gives them a bunny tail appearance. Most of the chicks sold as Araucanas are really Ameraucanas, which are excellent, efficient producers of large eggs of many colors and shades including blue and green. Our unique eggs range from light blue, light green, sage, and brown hues. Our chickens are free range, eating healthy grasses and bugs on over 80 acres. They are not caged, no antibiotics, no steroids, and live in a non-stressed environment. Farm tours are offered upon request.
